Interim Principal Named at the Lt. Peter M. Hansen Elementary School

  • June 7, 2011

An Announcement from Canton Superintendent of Schools Jeff Granatino:

Good afternoon. I am happy to announce that I have offered the position of Interim Principal at the Lt. Peter M. Hansen Elementary School, for the 2011-2012 school year, to Mr. Peter Boucher. On July 1, Peter will replace outgoing Principal, John Maxwell who is moving on to a new position in the Lexington Public Schools.

Peter has served as the Canton Public Schools’ Wellness Director for the past three years and was recently named Massachusetts Wellness Director of the Year by the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association. Peter began his teaching career as an elementary PE/Health teacher and over the past 18 years has worked at the elementary, middle, and high school level in both Massachusetts and Florida. He also spent time working at the college level. As an elementary and middle school teacher in Florida during the 2005-2006 school year, Peter was chosen over 4,900 other candidates as the Sarasota County Teacher of the Year.   People around Canton have become accustomed to Peter’s incredible work ethic and non-stop attitude as he has introduced a number of new programs and initiatives. Peter is a dynamic leader with boundless energy. With a Master’s in Education from Cambridge College, he is completing his Principal’s program through Framingham State College, where he will earn his second Master’s degree. I am confident that Peter will do a terrific job in this new role, and I know he is excited about the opportunity to work with the talented group of teachers and staff at the Lt. Peter M. Hansen Elementary School.
