A Frightful Storm is Brewing This Halloween Weekend, Canton

The fall snow storm will bring back the white stuff to Canton.

Some may call it a wicked trick. Others may call it a spook-tacular treat. Either way, get the shovels ready, because Canton will be getting hit by the fall snowstorm tonight.

Although it is still autumn, and the leaves on the trees have barely changed colors, Canton is expected to get several inches of snow tonight.

The National Weather Service issued a Winter Weather Advisory for "heavy wet snow and strong winds" for Norfolk County and surrounding counties. The advisory is in effect from 6:00 p.m. tonight (Saturday) until 8:00 a.m. Sunday. The storm is expected to bring heavy, wet snow, two to four inches of powder, and strong wind gusts–the perfect recipe for downed lines, tree damage and power outages.

The NWS is predicting wind gusts up to 55 m.p.h. and temperatures in the upper 30s. Driving is not advised during the storm, with visibilities down to one quarter to a half a mile. Untreated surfaces will freeze and become slippery, the NWS said. Expect some thunder and patchy fog as well.

Although the Halloween decorations will be covered in snow, there is no white stuff in the forecast for Halloween night. The trick-or-treaters should bundle up but are in the clear for rain and snow-free weather on Monday. Happy Halloween!
