Bank of Canton Robbed This Afternoon

The Turnpike Street branch was robbed today.

Canton Police are searching for a suspect that robbed the Bank of Canton's Turnpike Street branch a little after 12:00 p.m. today.

Police are searching for a white, male suspect, age 25-30, according to Canton Police Chief Ken Berkowitz, who was at the scene this afternoon.

The suspect was not armed and "no weapon was shown," Berkowtiz said.

The teller who was handed a note from the suspect was robbed of an undisclosed amount of money, the police chief said. It was "small," he said.

The number of customers in the branch at the time of the robbery is not known at this time, according to the chief, but no weapons were shown and no one was injured.

Bank officials, including the CEO, were inside the bank speaking to police at about 1:15 p.m. and had no comment at this time.
