Baskin-Robbins to Expand in China
The local ice cream chain plans to open nearly 250 shops in China during the next decade.
Along with Dunkin' Donuts, also based in Canton, Baskin-Robbins is part of the parent company Dunkin' Brands Group, Inc.
The ice-cream chain said in a news release on Wednesday that the company is projecting to open 249 Baskin-Robbins shops in China during the next 10 years. Currently, the company has more than 90 locations in China, including shops in Beijing, Shanghai, Xi'an, Hangzhou and Zhengzhou.
Dunkin' Donuts, meanwhile, is pursuing expansion plans, according to Boston.com.
“We’re very excited to expand the Baskin-Robbins brand in China with these five new partners who each have a deep knowledge of their local consumers," Giorgio Minardi, president of Dunkin’ Brands International, said in a statement. “With the development of these additional shops across China, even more ice cream lovers throughout the country will be able to enjoy Baskin-Robbins’ delicious ice cream, custom ice cream cakes and frozen beverages, all served in a fun environment and at a great value.”
