"I think what happens is we don't box out, and we weren't helping," Sharon Head Coach Kate Horsmann said.

"We got some rebounds and we came down and we didn't run good offense. We were helter-skelter on our offense. We didn't get good looks."

Sharon looked poised to win early in the fourth quarter.

The Eagles led 44-40 entering the period and then sophomore guard Lily Abarbanel scored, increasing the lead to six points.

Canton senior forward then made a basket and two free throws, cutting the Eagles' lead to two. But Sharon sophomore guard Andrea Bender's three-pointer brought the lead to five, 49-44.

A Murphy basket then capped a 5-0 Canton run that tied the score.

Two free throws by Sharon sophomore guard Karlie O'Driscoll put the Eagles ahead 51-49 with 2:28 left in the game.

The Bulldogs outscored the Eagles 8-2 the rest of the way, though.

Murphy led Canton with 33 pointa.

"Olivia Murphy is a real good ballplayer. She's 5-10, 5-11. We just couldn't keep her off the boards," Horsmann said.

O'Driscoll led Sharon with 17 points. Abarbanel and Bender added 13 each.

Sharon next hosts Oliver Ames at 6:30 p.m. Friday. Canton hosts Norwood at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.
