Canton Can Handle a Little Snow

It finally feels like winter, snow and all, for Canton.

Do not expect a repeat of last year's Blizzard, Canton. But do expect to shovel out from today's storm.

The National Weather Service is forecasting three to seven inches of snow to fall on Canton today before 7:00 p.m. Expect a high temperature of 26 today and a low of 17, according to the NWS.

Hopefully, Canton will be spared any major storm related damages, power outages or issues.

The Canton DPW crews were ready ahead of the first flakes falling. Plows and sanders were lined up on Route 138 at about 7:00 a.m. today, prepared to clean up the mess.

Also, just in case, "the town's shelters are designed to be ready at any moment," Canton Police Lt. Tom Keleher said today. "As far as extra patrol, the police department is monitoring and feel we are prepared for what snowfall is expected."

"What really helps is that there is no school," Lt. Keleher said.

Police are advising residents to be cautious on the roadways. "One of the biggest issues we have with light, fluffy snow with accumulations under six inches is accidents," he said.
