Canton Fire, Police: Gov. Patrick's Travel Ban Was Helpful During Storm
Patch spoke with Lt. Brian Marshall and Deputy Chief Helena Findlen
Canton Patch spoke with Lt. Brian Marshall of the Canton Fire Department on Monday in response to how the public safety officials weathered the storm over the weekend.
"We had seven extra guys on hand in case there were any mishaps," Marshall said. "Thankfully, the governor banned any cars on the road, which helped immensely in clearing the roads and possible weather related automobile accidents. There were very few power outages and the 30 to 40 calls that we did receive were for carbon monoxide detectors which were blocked by the snow."
Deputy Chief Helena Findlen of the Canton Police Department was in agreement, and said, "Gov. Patrick banning all cars on the road was a huge help to us. We were also pro active in getting all of the cars off the road which made clearing the roads extremely manageable."
