Canton High Postseason Sports Scoreboard: Boys' Hockey versus North Attleboro Saturday in Brockton
The Canton High boys' ice hockey team will be facing Hockomock League rival North Attleboro in the Division 2 South quarterfinals Saturday at Asiaf Rink in Brockton at 6 p.m.
BOYS' ICE HOCKEY-The Bulldogs are the No. 1 seed in Division 3 will play North Attleboro Satuirday in the quarterfinals at Asiaf Rink in Brockton at 6 p.m. The winner wll face the winner of the Oliver Ames-Coyle-Cassidy game, which is being played at 2 p.m. in Brockton. Canton finished the season with a 15-3-2 record after losing their last game of the season to Coyle-Cassidy.
BOYS' BASKETBALL-The Bulldogs lost to Norton, 52-39, first round of the Division 2 South tournament Thursday night. Canton went on the road to Abington for a preliminary round Monday night and returned home with a 62-60 win, knocking the Green Wave out of the tourney. Matt Kelley's two foul shots at the end of the game was the difference for the Bulldogs. Tristen Mullen, who had a half-court basket to end the first quarter, had 19 as did teammate Sam Larson. On the Hockomock League all-star team, Larson was named to the team, while Andrew Mansfield was an honorable mention selection.
GIRLS' ICE HOCKEY-The Bulldogs lost to Meuthen, 7-3, Wednesday at the Metropolis in Canton at 4:30 p.m. in the Division 2 first round. Meuthen defeated Norwell, 10-3, in the preliminary round. The Bulldogs were the fourth seed at 16-3-1 in the regular season. Canton lost to Hingham, 5-3, in their season finale. Meghan Lennon, Meaghan McKenna, Bethany Kelly and Jill Eckler was named to SEMGHL all-star team. They were on the East team in the all-star game that lost to the West, 5-0.
WRESTLING-Junior Quinn Merrigan won the 138-pound title at the Division 3 State tournament. Chris Sullivan captured a second and Rob DiCalogero grabbed an eighth.
GYMNASTICS-Stephanie Milne was named to the Hockomock League all-star team.
INDOOR TRACK-The Bulldog boys' and girls' track teams had strong showings at the Hockomock League Championships. Mellyn Costello was first in the 55 meter hurdles and second in the long jump, while Lauren Berman was first in the 1000 meters and Amanda Eagles first in the two-mile. Craig Millis, 600 meters, Michaela Kelly, 600 meters, and Obi Nwankwo, 300 meters, all grabbed second places.
