Canton Lawyer, Real Estate Broker Stays Busy Blogging

Christine Smith blogs about the town and real estate.

This Canton mother of three knows how to keep busy. A lawyer, a real estate broker, a blogger and a volunteer, Christine Smith in involved in every aspect of Canton’s community.

A native of Milton, and a Canton resident for the past 17 years, Smith and her husband have three daughters ages 11, 13 and 16 in Canton Public Schools.

“We moved here by happenstance,” Smith recalled. “We found a house we liked. I grew up in the town next door.”

Smith is a big advocate of Canton. She blogs weekly about events, Canton fundraisers and things to do in town in her blog : http://activerain.com/blogs/buyeragentcsmith She is also an active Tweeter. (She is @CantonMass on Twitter.)

The Milton High, Boston College and Boston College Law School graduate said blogging serves several purposes. It helps her promote her hometown and it helps make her business more viewable online.

“Most people looking to buy a house are looking online these days,” Smith said. You write a lot of local content and also some real estate. It makes you tune into what’s going on in town.”

As a real estate broker, it makes her a source of information and local knowledge for potential clients, she said.

Smith has worked for Buyers Brokers Only, LLC, for the past year. “They were looking for more attorneys to join their real estate company,” she said. “We are an exclusive buyer agency. We only represent buyers and we don’t list homes.”

The Canton resident said she is a big supporter of Canton Public Schools. “I think it’s a great public school system,” the mother of three Canton Public School students said.

The town is ideal for families with children and for folks who are single. “Overall, living in Canton has been a great experience.”

The convenience of commuting to Boston or Providence via train is also a lure, she said.  In addition, Canton has a lot of outdoor activities, sports, arts and theater. “It offers a lot,” she said.

“I’ve been involved in the schools and other stuff,” Smith said. “It’s a great community. People help each other out and volunteer their time.”
