Accomplishments: Awarded a Charger Scholarship to the University of New Haven, majoring in Forensic Science.

Key to Awesomeness: I am currently a senior at Blue Hills Regional in the Culinary Arts Program. I believe it is very important to stay motivated and always challenge oneself.  Some ways that I try to achieve this are by playing varsity sports.  I’ve played all four years.  I’ve received all-star awards in Swimming and Volleyball and it was truly amazing to play as captain during my senior year.  After receiving my lifeguard certificate, I enjoyed teaching swimming lessons at our school pool.

It is equally important for me to do my best in academics; I am graduating sixth in my class. I am a proud member of The National Honor Society. This Society has done so many amazing things from sending books to Africa, to collecting shoes for people in need in a program called “Soles for Souls.” Being a peer mediator was an experience I will never forget.  I enjoyed helping other students to resolve issues and problems since my sophomore year

The Culinary Program has been unbelievable. I chose this vocation because I love it. I have a passion for food and cooking. I have learned skills that I will use forever. I am very appreciative of all of my instructors for providing that foundation. It’s because of all of them that I have the basic tools to maybe pick up that passion later on in life, and who knows, after I earn my degree and make a little money, maybe I’ll open a little intimate restaurant of my own some day.

Volunteering at the local food pantry has taught me so many life lessons. They never have enough help and they are so grateful when I come in. Currently, I am employed 20-24 hours a week at The Lobster Barn in Abington.  I am very happy to have a job in today’s economy.

In the fall, I will be attending The University of New Haven, majoring in Forensic Science.  Crime Scene Investigations is something that always interested me. Currently, I foresee my long-term goal of becoming a member of the FBI. I know that college will hold many challenges, and I am anxiously looking forward to beginning the next chapter of my life.
