Following Tropical Storm Irene, the Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) is taking steps to reopen its campgrounds, facilities, parks, day use areas and waterfronts: As of today, approximately 80 day use areas (these include parks, beaches, and related facilities) and 16 campgrounds have reopened. This includes the Blue Hills in Canton. Due to downed trees, loss of power and inability to access facilities, approximately 45 DCR facilities will remain closed until further notice. DCR staff is working steadily to reopen these sites, however visitors and campers are advised to consult DCR’s website for status updates.
