Dunkin' Donuts Supports Pan-Mass Challenge for Fifth Year
Dunkin’ Donuts has contributed more than $120,000 to assist in finding a cure for cancer.
Featured Announcement:
Dunkin’ Donuts is supporting the 32nd annual Pan-Massachusetts Challenge (PMC) – an 11 route bike-a-thon through 46 Massachusetts towns – for the fifth consecutive year, to help reach the 2011 goal of raising $34 million for cancer research and treatment. Since 2006, Dunkin’ Donuts has contributed more than $120,000 to the PMC. Additionally, over the past five years, Dunkin’ Donuts has fueled the thousands of participants who come together to raise money for cancer research and treatment in the PMC, having served more than 40,000 cups of hot coffee to riders, volunteers and spectators.
Scheduled for August 6 and August 7, the 2011 PMC will donate 100 percent of every rider-raised dollar directly to the Jimmy Fund, an important organization to both Dunkin’ Donuts and its franchisees. For the second year in a row, Dunkin’ Donuts is sponsoring a team of 12 employees who are expected to participate as riders, as well as Matt Bodenrader, a Dunkin’ Donuts crew member in Dracut. In August, Matt will celebrate his 10th year of being in remission from Burkitt’s lymphoma and the upcoming ride will mark his sixth year participating in the PMC as a cancer survivor.
“I am always excited to ride year after year, but this year is especially meaningful to me and my family as we celebrate 10 years of remission,” said Bodenrader. “Research is the backbone to finding a cure for the many different types of cancer. Riding in the PMC is a way for me to give back so that others will be as fortunate as I was.” Bodenrader, age 20, was matched with PMC cyclists as a “Pedal Partner” during the years he was treated for cancer and could not ride.
“The thousands of riders, volunteers and supporters of the PMC are the reason the bike-a-thon is able to raise more money than any other athletic fundraising event in the country,” said Billy Starr, founder and executive director of the PMC. “In addition to significant in kind donations, Dunkin’ Donuts gives the PMC much appreciated exposure by hanging posters in more than 700 stores across the region and by placing our logo on 58 million cups over the past three years.”
