Five Things You Need to Know Today: June 29, 2012
The Canton Department of Recreation has so many programs for you!
1. 1:30pm - Let's do some line dancing at St. Gerard's Church sponsored by the Canton Council on Aging.
2. It's still not too late to sign up for the hike on Monday, July 2 at Signal Hill from 10am to 12pm. (Signal Hill is the highest point between Blue Hills and Moose Hill). Sponsored by the Canton Department of Recreation.
3. How about playing in the Canton Women's Softball League for a little summer fun? Ages 18 and up. Monday and Wednesday evenings, June through July. The league follows ASA regulations. Contact: (781)821-5030. Sponsored by the Canton Department of Recreation.
4. The weekend is here. go for a hike in the Blue Hills Reservation Ranger Tom offers a few trail suggestions for you: 1. Hikes from Reservation Headquarters include the Skyline Loop, 3 miles and challenging, Hancock Hill, .5 miles and a moderate walk, and Wolcott and Border Path 2.5 miles but very easy and a nice walk with your dog and little ones. There are other hikes from Houghton's Pond and the Trailside Museum. Maps available at Blue Hills.
5. And if you can't make it to an ocean beach, swim at Houghton's Pond. The swimming area is supervised by DCR lifeguards in July and August, 10am to 6pm, 7 days a week. All park visitors must follow the directions of the lifeguard and park staff at all times.
