Foxborough Swimming Falls to Canton on Senior Day

They boys lose 91-68 while the girls fell to the Bulldogs 91-77.

In the final dual meet of the season for Foxborough and the Warriors fell on Senior Day to the 91-68 in the boys meet and 91-77 in the girls meet. With three members of the girls team competing for the YMCA’s Hay Lightning Team earlier in the day, the Warriors went into the meet with members of the team already with as many as five events under their belts.

“It wasn’t as close as I thought it would be but I thought for the circumstances we did well,” Foxborough Head Coach Kiley Macie said.

Despite the meet earlier in the day, Maddie Fletcher still managed to go 4-0 with wins in the 200 medley relay (2:29.88), 400 freestyle relay (4:18.31), 200 freestyle (2:14.38), and 100 breaststroke (1:17.87).

The 400 relay time was once again under the sectional standard. While the team had previously hit the time, a clerical error with the previous time forced the team to get the time once again as a precaution.

“The official time was never written down so I just wanted to make sure they got it a second time,” Macie explained.

Kim Frazier was successful in two individual events showing off her versatility with a win in the 500 freestyle (6:12.65) and a third place finish in the 100 breaststroke (1:20.98).

“I can put her in any race and she does extremely well. She’s just got great skills,” Canton Head Coach Lori Mooney said.

In the boys meet Jake Harrington swam a PR in the 200 freestyle (2:27.28) while Tim Smith also earned PRs in the 100 butterfly (1:03.63) and the 500 freestyle (5:45.81) for the Warriors.

Jake Holdcraft also picked up a win in the 100 yard backstroke for Foxborough.

James Frazier continued to show signs of improvement for the Bulldogs with wins in the 50 freestyle (25.29) and 100 breaststroke (2:22.37).

“He’s really coming along and we’re hoping for a little bit more to get into sectionals and states but he still had a great performance,” Mooney said.

The Warriors girls end the dual meet season at 2-7 while the boys are 0-9. The Bulldogs girls are 5-3 while the boys are 3-5.

The Warriors will enjoy the rest of the week off before competing at the Hockomock League Championship meet on Saturday Feb. 4th while the Bulldogs will be back at it on Jan. 30th against Stoughton.
