Hiking Blue Hills Makes for a Great Escape

Sunny spring days are the perfect time to hike the Blue Hills and take in the sights.

Each week Canton Patch will feature one idea or suggestion to let you escape from the everyday monotony by visiting local hotspots or area events. Each Great Escape feature is meant to make your life a little easier, a bit more fun and maybe even more exciting by helping you discover some new things to do right in your neighborhood.

With the arrival of some warmer sunny weather, it appears spring has finally arrived (and hopefully here to stay.) This is the perfect weather to enjoy a bit of Mother Nature right in Canton with a hike up the .

A great activity for you and your dog, a group of friends, or families with or without children to enjoy, a hike up the is easy enough that novice trail climbers will take it in stride as well as those seasoned hikers who can choose a more to hike.

Comfortable footwear for a bit of rock climbing and some water and snacks for sustenance when you reach the summit are all that you really need for this hike. Setting your own pace and choosing your trail makes the hike as leisurely or as strenuous as you might like.

You may want to bring along a camera for those great views from the observatory or even pack a full lunch. There are picnic tables and plenty of other spots to find a rest stop and recharge with a mid-day meal, taking in the crisp spring air.

A hike up Blue Hills would not be complete without a stop to check for wildlife in the outdoor exhibits near the You may see wild turkeys, hawks, owls or various other animals out enjoying the weather, too.
