In the Schools: Canton's September 26 Edition
BHR students get a headstart on college and CAPE kicks off the year.
BHR Students in College Dual Enrollment Program
Five current Blue Hills Regional Technical Vocational High School students are enrolled in the fall semester at both Massasoit Community College and Bridgewater State University: junior Janelli Aguilar, senior Samrana Bertrand, senior Joseph Habib, senior Jasmine Hernandez and senior Caitlin Pemberton.
Students in dual enrollment, enroll in a college course and receive college credits for that course, plus credits toward their high school diplomas. In order to qualify for consideration, students must be recommended by a guidance counselor or other school official, hold a minimum GPA of 3.0 and maintain good academic standing, have written approval from a parent or guardian, take placement examinations in reading, writing, and mathematics, place out of all developmental courses and meet all other course prerequisites.
Funding is limited for qualified students, and registrations are approved on a first come, first served basis by the college Dual Enrollment Coordinator. Students who are not funded may choose to pay for classes on their own.
All Blue Hills students received funded seats, and needed only to purchase texts and supplies.
