This week's Pet of the Week at the Canton Animal Shelter is Riley, a female German Shepard who is approximately 6- years-old.
Riley was surrendered to Animal Control by her owner, who claimed that he found Riley through an ad on Craig’s list for $25.00.
Riley was thin, had a dirty shaggy coat and severe eye irritation.
When Riley's new master brought her to the vet, it was discovered that she had Lyme disease and Anaplasma, which is another tick-borne disease.
Riley has a condition called dry eye. She will need eye ointment and drops for the rest of her life. She was treated for all of the above ailments and is slowly recovering.
She is an absolute love and is very well behaved and quiet. So far Riley's only behavior issue is her dislike for other dogs. She would definitely need to go to a home without other dogs and with a very dog savvy owner.
