PHOTOS: Canton Girl Scouts Raise Funds at the Metropolis Skating Rink
Food was collected to be given to the Canton Food Pantry.
On Friday, Dec. 28, the Girl Scouts of Canton held a fund raiser at the Metropolis Skating Rink, 2167 Washington Street and collected food for the Canton Food Pantry.
The Scouts included the Daisy Troop grades K-1, the Brownies grades 2 - 3 and the Girl Scouts grades 4 -5. All brought friends and family for an afternoon of ice skating and slush at the snack bar.
There are more than 100 local girl scout councils nationwide. The first Girl Scout Troop was organized March 12, 1912 by Juliette Gordon Low in Savannah, Georgia. Today there are 3.2 million girl scouts which includes 2.3 million girls and 890,000 adult members working as volunteers for the most part.
