Help Santa Fill the Shelves at the Canton Food Pantry

With all the parties and events going on during the holiday season, many of us seem to spend a lot of time at the grocery store.  While we're there, let's try to throw something extra in the cart for the Canton Food Pantry.

The Canton Food Pantry provides an invaluable service to many members of our community who are struggling. They rely on the donations and support from the Canton community. Luckily, the citizens of Canton always come through for them–as they do anytime they are asked for help.

The Food Pantry sends out a monthly email to its subscribers, letting them know what items they are most in need of for the current month. Each month they stress that all donations of any kind are always welcome. If you would like to get on the list you can email the food pantry and ask to be put on the list. I find it useful. The week that I receive the email, I put a few of the items on my shopping list for the week so that I remember. Then, after I sort my groceries, I can deliver the needed items to the Food Pantry.

For those who are not on the distribution list, I duplicate the list in a monthly blog post, although donations of any kind are always welcome. You can also subscribe the the Food Pantry Blog

The Canton Food Pantry sent out thanks to the generous Canton residents who donated items for Thanksgiving meals last month.

For regular donations this month, the Canton Food Pantry reports that they need the following:

  • Coffee
  • Juice
  • Canned fruit/vegetables'
  • Pasta sauce
  • Pasta
  • Peanut Butter
  • Jelly
  • Feminine products
  • Diapers (all sizes)
  • Toilet paper
  • Paper towels

Donations may be brought to:

Canton Food Pantry, 960 R Washington St., (rear of Rodman Building) most Mondays 7-9am, and every Tues. 8:30-9am
Canton Co-Operative Bank, 671 Washington St., Mon-Fri 9am-5pm
Bank of Canton, 557 Washington St., Mon - Fri 9am-5pm
Canton Public Library, 786 Washington St., Mon 1-9pm, Tues-Thurs 9:30am-9:00pm
Pratt Realtors, Inc., 1475 Washington St., Daily 7am-5pm

Let's try to help fill those shelves.  After all, Santa can't do it all himself!
