  Please wear shoes with a smooth hard sole.\nSean-n&oacute\;s means &ldq
 uo\;old-style&rdquo\;in the Irish language.\nAs a solo\, improvised form
  of dance\, the sean-n&oacute\;s style is as varied and unique as every 
 dancer who dances it. Sean-n&oacute\;s dance performance is often inform
 al\, playful\, and expressive\, allowing the dancer to engage in a here-
 and-now dialogue with the music. Distinct from more modern forms of Iris
 h step dancing\, sean-n&oacute\;s steps feature short rhythmic patterns\
 , subtle movements with footwork kept close-to-the-floor\, and a loose\,
  relaxed upper body.\nSean-n&oacute\;s dance nearly died out in the 20th
  century but is now experiencing a major revival in Ireland and worldwid
 e. Kieran has studied sean-n&oacute\;s dance traditions from Connemara a
 nd West Clare\, and has become a major figure in teaching and performing
  it in the US. In 2005\, she won Second Place in the Com&oacute\;rtas Ch
 &oacute\;il&iacute\;n She&aacute\;in Dharach\, the sean-n&oacute\;s jig 
 competition in Ros Muc\, County Galway. She has produced two DVDs on sea
 n-n&oacute\;s dance&mdash\;the documentary Secrets of the Sole and the i
 nstructional video Musical Feet!
