Canton student experiences the warmth of Buenos Aires

Ross Rozanski of Canton, a senior at Boston College High School, recently traveled to Buenos Aires, Argentina with 8 fellow students and 3 faculty members from BC High as part of The Buenos Aires Summer Seminar. This was BC High's 6th year partnering with Colegio del Salvador, SJ.

Rozanski spent time with his host family and in the classroom in Buenos Aires taking daily Spanish classes, and learning about Argentine history . Each morning to wake themselves up before class the group played futbol. They took weekly excursions throughout Buenos Aires, visiting the US Embassy and La Plaza de Mayo. They helped their Argentinian friends celebrate Flag Day and heard the Argentine National Anthem for the first time. They also helped their host brothers prepare a debate in English on whether or not medicines should be patented.

Whether it was through dancing the Tango, or visiting a local ranch with real gauchos, or eating the sausages at the barbecue or cheering at a soccer game, or drinking mate, the students truly felt a part of the lively and welcoming Argentine culture. They also had the incredible opportunity of traveling to Cordoba.
