Volunteer to Play with Homeless Children in Stoughton

Did you know that 1 in 45 children will be homeless in MA this year alone?  Horizons for Homeless Children partners with 27 family shelters in Southeastern, MA, including Stoughton, to help children and their families.  They provide playrooms stocked with educationally and developmentally appropriate toys and materials.  They also recruit, train and manage volunteers to play with the children for 2 hours a week for a minimum commitment of 6 months.  The volunteers provide social connections, educational play and activities that lead to self-esteem and self-confidence.  While volunteers are with the children, the parents get a chance to look for housing, take classes and do what they need to get back on their feet.  Horizons for Homeless Children is very much in need of new volunteers.  Our next training is Saturday, 9/14/13, 9:00-3:00 in West Bridgewater.  For more information on how you can help or to sign up for the training, call 508 510-3250 or email southeast@horizonschildren.org.  If you are interested in making donations, please give us a call for our wish list of needs.  In the time it takes to watch a movie, you can change the life of a child!
