Canton Business Spotlight: Visions Salon

The business has been located in Cobbs Corners since 1988.

Visions Salon located at 16 Washinton Street in Cobbs Corner is our business spotlite this week.

Patch sat down with owners Bret Guaraldi and Kerri Cochrane and asked some questions to give our readers more knowledge on what it takes to run a succesful hair salon.

Patch: When did you and Kerri meet and how did Visions come about because I know tha at one time you were a stylist on Newbury Street in Boston?

Visions: We met 30 years ago when Kerri was 17 years old and in a work study program through Sharon High School. She started assisting me when I owned the Pygmalian Salon in Sharon to see if she wanted to pursue a career in cosmotology. A lasting friendship formed and 14 years ago we opened Visions.

Patch: You're in a service industry. In this economy what is the key ingredient in keeping consumer loyalty and satisfaction?

Visions: I think Visions success is partially based on how we make people feel when they are here. We make them feel special. It starts at the front desk and goes right through to the back technical area. We do excellent work, have great prices and are fortunate to have the best clientel. We have become part of our clients families watching the kids grow up and going through the Bar and Bat Mitzvahs, weddings, babies and proms.

Patch: Where does Visions see the future of hair care and the always changing trends? Is it all about color now?

Visions: It seems to be that color is going to be it for a long time where as a few years ago, cutting was the main stream for for many styles that we did. Todays youth loves color. Hi-lites, low lites and dimensional. They wear their hair longer but they color more often.

Our older clients prefer truly natural color with alot of shine. So we do glossings over natural colored hair. Smoothing is also a hot item but really curly haired girls like to show off their natural waves that they are blessed with in a different way.

Patch: Visions has had the same employees for may years. How do you maintain such a loyal staff?

Visions: We are like family and have been together for so many years. We offer benefits for our staff, disability, dental, health and paid vacation and a 401K plan where most salons do not.

Patch: There are many salons in the area, what sets Visions Salon apart from all the other salons?

Visions: Our friendly atmosphere brings our clients back time after time. Our staff takes pride in keeping our clients happy while providing them with the latest styles and technology in the ever changing industry. We are not only trained stylists but sometimes feel like "hairapists" giving "hairapy."
