Since 2006, 70 scholarships totaling $160,000 have been awarded by the members of the Independent Living Community at Orchard Cove to help Orchard Cove employees achieve their educational goals.

“The scholarship fund encourages staff members to pursue further education," said Orchard Cove Resident Bernyce Shimberg in a statement. "Often the skills gained improve some aspects of service to Orchard Cove members; and sometimes their education has led them to new professions which enrich their lives as well as their communities. Always, the scholarship program has helped to make Orchard Cove an attractive place to work and to motivate high level employees to encourage their family members to come here to work.”
