Canton's Marla and George Jenkins Honored by Catholic Charities South

Canton residents Marla and George Jenkins were recognized for their dedication to family, community and people in need.

The following is from Catholic Charities South:

At its annual Spring Gala, “Rooted in Compassion,” Catholic Charities South honored Marla and George Jenkins of Canton with the Peggy Simons Care and Compassion Award for their dedication to family, community and people in need.

The Jenkins’ are well known for their commitment to improving the well-being of the community from their involvement in local politics to town sports to teaching CCD.

The gala was held June 8 at the Blue Hill Country Club in Canton.

This annual Catholic Charities South event raises funds to provide basic resources to those in need, and support a wide range of educational programs for children and adults that provide paths to self-sufficiency.

This year’s event featured Susan Wornick, WCVB-TV Anchor & Consumer and Investigative Reporter, as Master of Ceremonies and a special auction and raffle of artwork created by artists ranging in age from five to senior citizens who had created artistic renditions of rooted in compassion, the theme of the evening.
