Scouting's Outdoor Adventure on the River

Boston, MA– Clear Channel Outdoor has donated significant billboard space to promote the fact that the Charles River will be transformed into an amazing outdoor adventure wonderland on October 7!   The billboards high above roadways in and around Boston are promoting SOAR 2012 - Scouting’s Outdoor Adventure on the River.  SOAR 2012, hosted by the Boy Scouts Boston Minuteman Council, will feature 150 exciting outdoor activities and entertainment that promise fun and adventure for the entire family.  It will be an amazing weekend as more than 5000 scouts and families turn the area of the Charles River across from Harvard stadium into a huge urban campground.  The general public is encouraged to register and attend on Sunday, October 7.

SOAR 2012 is a first-of-its-kind event built on the Scouting tradition of enjoying the outdoors and bonding through learning valuable skills such as wilderness survival, leadership and life skills.  The event will feature the world’s largest pinewood derby track and activities such as Canoeing and Kayaking, Zombie First Aid, Storm the Castle, Robot Building, Video Game Design, Archery, and much more!  New England Revolution players will be on hand to teach soccer skills, and rock musicians and other entertainers will perform throughout the day on the main stage.  The reigning Miss Massachusetts, Natalie Pietrzak, is the official Hostess of SOAR 2012, and will lead the crowd into the spectacular final evening show featuring an amazing fireworks display.

SOAR 2012 – Scouting’s Outdoor Adventure on the River – takes place Sunday, October 7 along the banks of the Charles River at 1175 Soldier’s Field Road in Boston.  The general public is invited to attend and participate in the fun!  To register for this day of family fun and outdoor adventure, visit www.SOAR2012.org.  SOAR 2012 is made possible with support from Clear Channel Outdoor, Century Bank, Amica Insurance, Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation, Gentle Giant, and Charles River Canoe & Kayak.
