Campers Filling the Visual Arts Center in Canton

This year the camp has nearly doubled in size.

 

season officially kicked off last week at the.  This year, enrollment numbers have ballooned – nearly doubling the camp’s size from last summer.  With more registrations expected in the upcoming weeks, it looks to be a record year for the American Camp Association accredited art and nature camp. 

Camp season began with Pottery Mini Camp.  Kids ages 6 – 14 participated in this three day art & nature focused camp.   Campers created free standing clay sculptures using ordinary kitchen tools like garlic presses and pasta rollers for their masterpieces. They were instructed on basic pottery techniques as they worked with the earthiest of all mediums – clay.

Each camper also spent time in the newly renovated pottery studio using the wheels to “throw” a pot.  Painting of the creations took place out of doors as campers took in the glorious sunshine as well as played group games and enjoyed nature.
