The 35-year-old former Canton resident, who now lives in Pensacola, Fla., is one of the new castaways in "Survivor: Redemption Island" which airs Wednesday night on CBS at 8:00 p.m.

Mariano, a married father of two daughters, said he expects some old rivalries to arise. "Obviously, I'm coming back to kick Russell's ass first," he said of his old Survivor rival, Russell Hantz.

"Boston Rob" competed in "Survivor: Marquesas," "Survivor: All-Stars" and "Survivor: Heroes Vs. Villains." He met his wife Amber, who was also in "Survivor: All-Stars," and proposed during the season finale.

Mariano said he "ate a lot" to prep for this season and his family is excited that he will be representing Canton once again. "They will be watching every week," he said. He came to town to visit family last Christmas, and his favorite place to visit while in Canton is his mom, Linda's, house, he said.

The survivor contestant, who often sports a Red Sox hat, said he may bring good luck to his beloved Sox this year. "Well, every time I've been on Survivor, a Boston team has won a championship," he noted.
