Discovery Museums: Squawking Turkeys, Tempest in a Teacup and Preventing Phantom Load

The Discovery Museums are offering three programs today:

 

FETCH!™ Squawking Turkeys  10:00am in the Children's Discovery Museum.   What kind of noise does a turkey make?  Use a cup and a string to make a sound machine and find out!

FETCH!™ Tempest in a Teacup  1:00 to 4:00pm at the Science Discovery Museum.  See what kind of chemical reactions that can be created in a cup!

Preventing Phantom Load  1:00 PM to 4:00 PM Science Discovery Museum.  The local team finalists in the 2011 Siemens “We Can Change the World” Challenge will be on site to talk about their "phantom load" project.  Phantom load is the energy that is wasted when an electronic device seems to be "off" but is in fact on standby mode.  Come in and experiment with our equipment and see how energy is wasted and what you can do to cut back on phantom loads!
