Mass Audubon Moose Hill Happenings September 2011

Star Party       

September 18, Sunday,  8:30-10:00pm       Family  Program              

Join local Astronomers and view the night sky through their big telescopes. This program is cancelled if sky conditions are cloudy. Call 781-784-5691xt 8103 after 6pm for a recorded message about the status of the program.

September 22, Thursday,  1:00-2:30pm     Ages 4-6          

Explore the fields for hopping grasshoppers, chirping crickets ,and fluttering butterflies. Use bug-catching cups and nets to capture insects to examine and observe. A story and craft will complete this buggy program.  $8- $11

 

 

Nature’s Basement  

September 29, Thursday, 1:00-2:30pm        Ages 4-6                                  Your basement and nature’s basement are a lot alike: underground, filled with stuff, a few bugs, and possibly gets wet when it rains. Look under rocks and logs for the inhabitants of nature’s basement: salamanders sow bugs, worms, and more. Finish with a craft to remind you of what we found.  $8- $11

 

Art in the Park: Color Mania   

Sept. 22,Thursday, 3:30-5:00pm, ages 6-11                                

Use nature as your muse while creating art. Each class will feature a variety of art media for budding artists to try based on the topics listed above. Class may feature outdoor time, so be sure to dress for the weather.  $9- $12.

 

Knee-High Naturalists 

September through December. Starting September 19/20 Mondays or Tuesdays

9:30-12 noon  ages 3 – 4 

Give your child the gift of nature all year long! Each session includes stories, crafts, indoor circle time, and plenty of outdoor nature play. Discover our “nature playgrounds” while learning about the theme of the week. For more information about this program especially designed for young learners. Call for prices and details.

 

Moose Hill Walkers

Sept. 19, 26, Mondays, 8:00 – 9:00am     Adult Program                    

Join Patti Austin for a weekly morning walk. See the arrival of Fall all while learning the trails for walks later on your own. Participants must  be able to maintain a steady walking pace for  the hour. Walks held rain or shine. Fee: $20- $30 Fee per walk: $5 - $8

 

Mushroom Foray and Book Signing   

September 25; Sunday, 1:30 pm 

Join mycologist Dr Lawrence Millman on a mushroom foray jointly sponsored by Moose Hill and Boston Mycological Club. Explore several different mushroom habitats. Free
