Oldies Concert Coming to Prowse Farm in Canton Saturday

Enjoy some old-fashioned rock n' roll at Prowse Farm this weekend.

Get ready to rock and roll at this weekend. Ten acts will be performing at the historic farm in Canton Saturday, July 9. The l is kicking off at 4:00 p.m. Saturday.

The “big, outdoor, oldies but goodies concert” is coming back to town after a three-year hiatus, Harvey Robbins, President of the Friends of Prowse Farm, said.

All the proceeds from the concert will benefit the Friends of Prowse Farm Educational Center, according to Harvey Robbins, President of the Friends of Prowse Farm. The Friends of Prowse Farm is a nonprofit, volunteer organization that has been around since 1975. The Friends help maintain the property and organize events, including the oldies show.

Get ready to hear Tony Funches, former lead singer of The Platters, Little Joe Cook,  The Jukebox 5 featuring The Shingalings, Billy D and the Rock-Its,  Dana Z’s tribute to Elvis, J.B. Jr. and more.

“It’s a great event where people can enjoy being on the property and people can bring picnic lunches,” Robbins said.

Folks are encouraged to pack food and non-alcoholic beverages to enjoy the three-hour show.

Prowse Farm, which will host the Life is Good Festival in September, has hosted several fundraising events over the years.

This weekend’s event is open to all music lovers and residents.

“It’s open to everybody,” Robbins said. “It’s not the scale of the Life is Good Festival but it’s really a homey event. There will be  great music and a good time.”

Audience members can “enjoy the property and free parking on the site,” the Friends president said.

Tickets are $45 for a reserved seat and $35 for a lawn seat. To order tickets please call: 978-256-6472. The rain date for the event is Sunday, July 10, at 4:00 p.m.
