Joyce, Galvin Announce Funding for Shepard Pond Dam

CANTON – Senator Brian A. Joyce and Representative William C. Galvin have announced that the Shepard Pond Dam on Washington Street has been awarded $1 million in state funding to make repairs and upgrades to the structure. The town was awarded the funds after applying for a grant and loan through the Dam and Seawall Repair and Removal Fund created by the Legislature last year.

“Town officials should be commended for taking the initiative to use state resources and taking the burden off of local taxpayers to make these needed repairs,” said Joyce. “Repairing the dam will not only make the structure safer, but will add to the appeal of the Cobb’s Corner area.”

“In meeting with town officials over the years regarding the dam’s condition, I can honestly say the credit for this $1 million award belongs with the town officials, who have been working tirelessly to find a way to repair this dam,” said Galvin “Dam repairs are very expensive, so the Shepard Pond Dam has been in critical need of repair a while. I am so pleased that the dam will finally receive the funding to make these long awaited repairs.”
