Canton Business Reinforces Commitment To Safe Driving

Employees at the Canton LoJack office held signs on Thursday indicating their intentions to take the pledge to be a safer driver and hope others will too.

LoJack Corporation in Canton took part in “Drive 4 Pledges Day” this week as part of its global safe driving campaign.

Employees at the Canton Headquarters on Pequot Way held signs on Thursday indicating their intentions to take the pledge to be a safer driver and hope others will too.

As a champion of the It Can Wait campaign, LoJack’s Canton office hopes drivers will not only pledge to never text and drive, but to also become a safe driving advocate.

Supporters of the campaign are encouraged to help spread the word among their friends, family and community, according to the LoJack website.  They are asked to engage in the online conversation surrounding the campaign by using the hashtag #ItCanWait to share their pledge stories.

“LoJack’s foundation of partnering with local law enforcement agencies to improve the safety of our communities includes the important task of safeguarding against the growing epidemic of distracted driving,” Randy L. Ortiz, CEO and President of LoJack, said in a statement. “We recognize the importance of working with law enforcement, community partners and customers to address this challenge and urge you to take the pledge to never text and drive.”

LoJack also created a safe driving infographic to point out the many dangers of distracted driving to further raise awareness of this initiative.

On the graphic, LoJack points out that drivers can be distracted by everything from cell phones, texting, and the car radio to pets and food.

The graphic advises drivers to be well rested before driving and obey speed limits.  It also asks drivers to plan out road trips by eating, looking at maps, and setting favorite radio stations before driving.
