Canton-Based Dunkin Donuts Eyes 'Best Coffee in America' Trademark

In early October, Dunkin Donuts applied for the actual trademark of "Best Coffee in America" with the U.S. Patent and Trademark office. The company has sought more than 100 trademarks for specific products like "Coffee Coolatta".

DEDHAM

Jasper White Names Vincent C. Lombardi General Manager at Dedham Summer Shack Restaurant

Vincent C. Lombardi was named General Manager of the Summer Shack Restaurant in Dedham at the end of October. In his new capacity as General Manager, Lombardi will oversee the staff and all activities of the restaurant, while ensuring guest satisfaction. 

Behind the Biz: Vincenzo's Italian Deli 

Dedham Patch takes an inside look at Vincenzo's Italian Deli, located in the heart of Dedham Square. Giuseppe Musto and his wife Marcella decided to open the venue after feeling that there was a need for an Italian Deli in the area.

Get Ready to Taste Dedham

On Oct. 18, Taste Dedham, hosted by The Dedham Rotary Club, featured 29 tasting stations and product sampling from the top restaurants of Dedham and surrounding towns. As part of the event, guests were able to try their luck at the Taste Dedham Raffle, be entered to win a door prize, receive complimentary swag bags, and bid on marvelous “Experience” Live Auction packages.

WALPOLE

Walpole Taco Bell Open During Construction 

The sides of Taco Bell in Walpole were boarded up in October, with large black tarps draped over the roof, creating a look that the building may be condemned. But the local restaurant was simply undergoing a makeover, and remained open during construction. 

Walpole Small Business Q&A: The Raven's Nest 

Located right in downtown Walpole, The Raven's Nest is a full-service restaurant and Irish pub, offering contemporary cuisine and upscale pub fare such as crispy calamari, vodka mussels, and sirloin steak. This past month, Walpole Patch sat down with owner Maura McAuliffe to discuss the nature of the restaurant and how business has been. 

Mandarin Cuisine, on Rte. 1A in Walpole recently underwent new management and prepared to don the new name, Asian Deli. The restuarant is currently renovating and expanding its space, making room for a bar and sushi station.

Wienermobile Visits Walpole

Known as Hotdoggers, operators of the Wienermobile pulled into Walpole on Oct. 18, when they handed out coupons, stickers and "wiener whistles." Patrons even had the chance to step inside the famed hot dog-shaped vehicle after answering Oscar Mayer trivia questions.

How Do You Like Your Rebel at Rico's? 

Rico's II Pizza and Subs has gathered almost a cult following amongst Walpole's youth since 2005 for its special Rebel sauce, a mixture of honey mustard and barbecue sauces and a blend of top secret spices.

Chili's Liquor License Suspended for Serving Alcohol to Minors 

In early October, the Walpole Board of Selectmen handed Chili's Grill and Bar a two-day suspension of its liquor license for serving alcohol to a minor. Chili's was the only licensed establishment in Walpole that failed an alcohol compliance sting operation by the Walpole Police Department on Aug. 30.

FOXBOROUGH

Berry Yogurt Violations Not Food-Related but Issues Must be Addressed 

At a meeting of the Foxborough Board of Health in late October, the board voiced concerns regarding operational issues at Berry Yogurt to the frozen yogurt shop’s manager, Mimi Tran. The board cited inexperience as the reason for the local shop's deficiencies following inspections in July, August and October.

Foxborough Selectmen to Issue Restaurant Liquor License to Asian Ginger

Thanks to approval from the Foxborough Board of Selectmen last month, Asian Ginger will now be allowed to serve wine and beer with meals at its 70 Central St. establishment. The board approved a request for the establishment to obtain a wine and malt restaurant license by a vote of 4-0.

NORTON

Sabatino's Trattoria Settles on Opening Date

After months of postponing, Sabatino’s Trattoria owner Rico Ferrera announced in late October that the Italian restaurant was poised to open as of Thursday, Nov. 1. The opening comes months after the original expected opening in April.

EASTON

Tommy Doyle's Expands Restaurant 

Renovations began in last month at Easton's Tommy Doyle's, which had been looking to expand on the south side of the bar and eliminate what was an outdoor smoking area. Tommy Doyles' previous license did not accommodate for food or drinks in the outdoor area, but the expansion was unanimously approved on by the Easton Board of Selectmen. The move will also allow for the restaurant's liquor license to accommodate an additional 36 seats.

MANSFIELD

Mansfield's Rum Runner Changing License to Beer and Wine Only 

In early October, Mansfield’s Rum Runner Liquors put in a request to make its liquor license a beer-and-wine-only license for its new location, which is the same address as the now-defunct Mansfield Variety Store. Rum Runner owners Joe and Mary Ann Detrolio owns both spaces.

ATTLEBORO

Caribbean Kitchen to Open at 4 p.m.

More than a year after it was announced, Jamaican cuisine restaurant Caribean Kitchen opened its doors in Attleboro. The restaurant offers everything from jerk chicken to flat fish to oxtails.
