Casual Male Retail Group Changes Name to 'Destination XL'

The corporation, based in Canton, made the decision to change its name after the success of a Destination XL store opened in 2010.

A Canton-based company that sells apparel to big and tall men is giving its corporate name a makeover. 

Casual Male Retail Group Inc., which is based in Canton and sells clothing to big and tall men, has plans to change its corporate name to Destination XL Group Inc., effective Monday, Feb. 25, according to a Boston.com report.

Casual Male XL, Rochester Clothing and B&T Factory Direct are among the store names under which the company has sold its apparel and previously experimented with a new store format called Destination XL, according to Boston.com. The first DXL store opened in mid-2010 in Schaumberg, Illinois. Results were successful enough to persuade the company to change its name.

"The transformation to the Destination XL concept provides the company with an exciting opportunity for growth," David Levin, President and CEO, said in a statement on Friday, Feb. 22. "Changing our name to Destination XL Group, Inc. truly reflects who we are today as we expand the Destination XL concept and rebrand the Company as a whole. The 49 Destination XL stores currently in operation and our DestinationXL.com website have already proven to be successful, and we are confident that this transformation will accelerate our long-term sales and profitability."
