Canton Patch: What are the benefits of continued massage? How often is the right amount?

Wendy Bryan: Massage has been proven to be a key component of ongoing wellness because it addresses a variety of health conditions. The most recognizable is stress-related tension; but it also can help with migraine headaches, sleep disorders, high blood pressure, cancer-related fatigue, pregnancy muscle strain, and many other conditions. Here’s why: Massage offers a drug-free, non-invasive and humanistic approach to well-being based on the body’s natural ability to heal itself. Since massage helps you relax and soften the injured or overused muscle, getting regular massages helps you maintain that healthy balance. As far as how often, it depends on the client and the health conditions. Most of our clients come in once a month, but many of them come in every two to three weeks because of ongoing health issues.

Canton Patch: What do you hope the customer experience will be when they walk in your door? What do you strive for?

Wendy Bryan: From the time you walk in the door, we want you to be greeted with a sense of calmness and relaxation. Our goal is to exceed your expectations so when you step into the lobby, it’s all about you. We take the time to understand “why” you are coming in for a massage and to learn about any health conditions you may have so we can customize the experience to meet your needs.

Canton Patch: Are the massages standard or do you customize them to the individual client?

Wendy Bryan: Although we have six modalities (Swedish, Deep Tissue, Trigger Point, Hot Stone, Prenatal & Sports) for our clients to choose from, clients can customize their massage within those modalities to ensure that their problem areas are being addressed.  Each of our 16 licensed massage therapists have been trained in all the modalities, but there are different techniques they use to address specific issues so when you call to make an appointment, we are going to match your  individual needs to the right therapist.

Canton Patch: The cost of your massage seems to be well below market. Can your client expect the same experience they get at a high-end spa?

Wendy Bryan: Yes. I think many of our clients come to us from high-end spas because we offer a great massage at an affordable price. Suddenly, instead of massage being a luxury it becomes part of maintaining your overall health and wellness. You can’t beat the $59.00 membership rate!  I also think it has to do with the number of therapists we have on our staff, our ability to handle walk-in clients, and the fact that we are open seven days a week from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. We have appointments available when our clients need one

Canton Patch: What made you get into this business?

Wendy Bryan: I was a member at Elements for two years before deciding to get involved. I have always had an interest in health and wellness and I have also always had a deep routed desire to own my own business. Elements Therapeutic Massage helped me turn those two interests into a career. I love watching our clients leave knowing we are helping them.  We have a great group of therapists and I love listening and learning from them when we talk about ways to continually improve what we are doing. They truly care about each and every client. I also love having a job that allows me to be a part of the community. After 25 years in a corporate job that took me out of town, it’s nice to spend my days getting to know my neighbors!
