Leaders Welcome "Amira Market" to Pleasant Street

The Middle Eastern market at 18 Pleasant St. will offer a variety of groceries and meats from the region.

The Benlaatmania family opened the doors to a new Pleasant Street Middle Eastern market this week, offering groceries and meats from the region.

"Amira Market" offers both halal and deli meats, among other Mideast culinary curiosities.

Mayor Gary Christenson and Imam Hamid Bourote of the Islamic Outreach Community and Reform Center were on hand for a ribbon-cutting ceremony Monday.

Ah that's good to know - it was described as Middle Eastern in the press release but Moroccan is going to have some cool variations.

Not to be a downer here (tongue in cheek), but since this new establishment is near the police station, it more than likely will be robbed soon.
