State Says Unemployment Figure Slightly Down in November

The overall unemployment number for Metro South/West was 4.4 percent for November.

 

In November 2012 , the Metro South/West area unemployment overall number was 4.4 percent, according to the Massachusetts Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development report,

The report also said rates were down in 11 areas, four areas were unchanged and seven areas were up.

Here are their unemployments rates for some of the towns in the Metro South/West group were:

Canton 5.2 (employed 10,983, unemployed 608)

Dedham 5.2 (employed 12,410, unemployed 676)

Foxborough 4.9 (employed 9,010, unemployed 469)

Norwood 5.0 (employed 15,123, unemployed 795)

Sharon 4.4 (employed 9,445, unemployed 414)

Walpole 5.0 (employed 12,191, unemployed 647)

Wrentham 5.1 (employed 5,472, unemployed 297)

The office also reported statewide the November seasonally unadjusted unemployment rate was 6.1 percent, down 0.1 of a percentage point. 

Over the year, the Massachusetts' unadjusted rate was down 0.3 of a percentage point from the November 2011 unadjusted rate of 6.4 percent.

According to Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development, the numbers are based on statistical methodologies specified by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics.
