Winner: Best Place to Celebrate St. Patrick's Day

It's a tie. You picked the Irish Cultural Center and the Halfway Cafe as the best place to celebrate St. Patrick's Day!

Readers voted the and the of New England as being the best place to celebrate St. Patrick's Day in Canton in this week's Best of Patch Readers' Choice poll.

It was a dead heat to the bitter end. The Irish Cultural Center and the Halfway Cafe each received 11 votes or 39 percent of the vote.

Patch caught up with Louise O'Shea, the director of programming and membership for the Irish Cultural Center.

"We are the epicenter for all and everything Irish," O'Shea said of the Irish Cultural Center that is funded by the Irish government and serves all of New England. 

"Tomorrow from 10 am to close we will be holding events from an Irish breakfast to music and dancing all day long," O'Shea said. "It's an authentic place to be for St. Patrick's Day."

The event is open to the public is $10 at the door.

Rob Salerno, an employee at the Halfway Cafe, also made the same claim to being an authentic place to spend St. Patrick's Day.

"It makes sense [that we would win]. There is one Irish guy who says that the Halfway Cafe has the same feeling of being in an Irish pub and always makes it a point to come here when he is visiting his family."

The Halfway Cafe will be serving corned beef and cabbage all day long tomorrow and will have the Randy Davis band performing Irish music.
