Back to School Means Back to Dance in Canton

time means more than the start of another school year. It is also the start of all the other activities that go along with the school year. For many parents–myself included–it is also time!

Canton is home to what is believed to be the oldest family-run dance studio in the country–. The studio's current director, Holly Costa, is the granddaughter of studio founder, Hazel Boone. The celebrated its 100th year of dance education in 2010. The Hazel Boone Dance Studio fills the niche of small classes, individualized instruction and a small faculty.

Now entering its , the Hazel Boone Studio has announced the opening of its located at One New Boston Drive in Canton. Conveniently located right off of Route 138, it has easy access from Canton but also from surrounding towns like Milton, Stoughton, Randolph, Easton and Sharon.

The studio had been at its previous location at the for the past six years. However, the Sportsplex was undergoing some renovations, including the addition of a second hockey rink. While they offered new studio space to the dance studio, there was no guarantee it would be ready for the upcoming 2011-2012 dance year.  According to a recent press release, the studio director decided it was a good time to upgrade their facilities. 

The will house the floating floor, high-tech sound system and closed circuit television in the waiting room that was at the previous studio. In addition, they are now able to offer larger, private changing rooms as well as a second studio. The second studio allows the studio to add to its current offerings with new classes in ballroom dancing, adult classes, boys only hip-hop classes and more.   (Hmmm....adult classes.....sounds interesting!)

Open Houses are scheduled to showcase its new facility, meet the faculty and
to sign up for this year's classes. The open house schedule and dance class schedules are available on the Hazel Boone Dance Studio website.
