Canton Dancers Bring Home the Gold
Hazel Boone dancers win gold at local dance competition.
Dancers from Canton's recently competed in the Dance Ovations competition held in Norwood and brought home the Gold to Canton.
Teen dancers competed with their jazz number to "Footloose", their ballet routine from "Pirates of the Carribean" and their tap routine to "I've Got Rhythm" from the movie "An American in Paris." All three of their routines earned them a Gold Medal Award.
The also competed in this competition. They performed their "Happy Feet" tap routine. This number earned them a High Gold Award at the competition. The Hazel Boone Dance Team is coached by 17-year old Kayla Costa, both a student at the and daughter of the studio director, Holly Costa. Kayla was awarded the Dance Ovations Student Choreography Award for the second consecutive year.

All of these routines are from movie soundtracks and will be performed in the upcoming Hazel Boone Dance Recital - "Hooray for Hollywood." This year's recital will be held on June 16th at 2:00 pm at . The Hazel Boone Dance Studio was established in 1910 and is believed to be the oldest family-run dance studio in the country. Located at One New Boston Drive in Canton, the studio is enjoying its 102nd year.
