Celebrate Spring at the Dean S Luce School Fun Run on Sunday
It's time for the Annual Luce School Fun Run.
The warm weather is finally here. That can only mean one thing - it is time for the Dean S. Luce School Fun Run.
Everyone is invited to join the Dean S. Luce School CAPT at the 12th Annual Luce School Fun Run will be held on Sunday, May 5, 2013, starting at 10:00 am at the Luce Elementary School on Independence Street in Canton.
This event is run by and for the benefit of the Dean S. Luce School Canton Association of Parents and Teachers (CAPT) but is really an event for the entire Canton community. The event was originally the idea of a couple of teachers who came to the CAPT to promote it as a fun event and not necessarily a fundraiser. It has turned into a good fundraiser and a fun annual event in the Town of Canton.

The Kids Run kicks off at 10:00 am with the half-mile childrens run for ages 4-8, followed by a mile childrens run for ages 9-12. All kids runs are appropriately age-grouped and are conducted on a loop around the school grounds.
The 5K starts at 11:00 am. The 5k is a rolling course through the residential streets of Canton, finishing on the school grounds. There will be two water stations and computerized finish. There are trophies for the first, second and third place winners in all age categories.

Stick around for the post-race festivities including bounce house and face-painting for the kids, DJ, great raffles and complimentary food! The event draws runners from all around Canton and the surrounding areas.
The cost of the childrens fun run is $11.50 and the cost of running the 5K is $22.00. You can sign up online at Racemenu.com/Luce5K or sign up at the school 30 minutes before the race. Questions can be directed to FunRun Coordinator, Sarah Pirrera at sarahpirrera@yahoo.com
The Fun Run is an annual feel-good community event that promotes health, fitness and good fun all while raising money for a good cause. My husband will be running the 5K and I will be there to cheer him on.
