Enjoy the Smooth Sounds of Jazz & More

Canton's small ensemble groups are giving a concert on Tuesday night.

Come on in out of the cold and enjoy the smooth sounds of jazz and the melodic sounds of a capella!

The Canton High Jazz Band, the Galvin Middle School Jazz Band and the CHS A Capella Chorus will perform at Small Ensembles Night on Tuesday January 29th at the Canton High Cafeteria.

Take advantage of this more intimate setting and enjoy some desserts and coffee while listening to the music of Ben E. King, Thad Jones, Miles Davis, Duke Ellington, Sting and more.

Both the jazz bands and a capella are extracurricular activities.  These dedicated music students arrive early to practice before school, stay late to practice after school or return to practice in the evening to be a part of these musical groups.

The talent of Canton's young musicians is a testament to the dedication of our performing arts staff in Canton's public schools. Thanks also goes out to parents for encouragement and for driving them to and from practices, paying for private lessons and reminding them to practice.  Finally, the music booster organization MusicCounts! and the people of Canton help to support the arts in our schools year after year.

I hope to see some Patch readers at the concert on Tuesday!  It's sure to be a great performance.
