Kick off the New Year at the Galvin Middle School Winter Concert

Galvin Middle School upcoming winter concert.

Step in out of the cold and enjoy the music performed by our talented Galvin Middle School students!

Canton High held its Winter Concert before the holidays. Rather than trying to fit everything in before school vacation, the Galvin Middle School is holding its Winter Concert upon the return to school in January. It is nice not to have one more event going on in December and is a welcome break from the cold January winter.

This year, the Galvin Middle School Winter Concert will be on Thursday, January 10th at the Canton High School auditorium. The 6th Graders will perform at 6:30 p.m. and the 7th and 8th graders will perform at 7:30 p.m. There are so many students performing that they need to divide up the performances so there is plenty of seating and parking for everyone.

There will be performances by the chorus group from each grade, band and the orchestra (strings) groups. The students have been working hard since September and this is their opportunity to show how much they have learned and how much their practicing has paid off.  Performances will include music from Ed Siennicki, Marvin Hamlisch, Anne McGinty, Bruno Mars, John Philip Sousa and Michael Jackson. Now that looks like quite a wide range of music!

You may note that the Jazz Band is not listed as performing.  Due to Canton's ever-expanding music program, the Galvin Middle School Jazz Band will perform later in the month along with the Canton High Jazz Band and Canton High A Capella.  Stay tuned.

Admission is FREE, although donations to MusicCounts! are always welcome.

As always, thanks go out to the Canton Public Schools' dedicated performing arts staff, to MusicCounts! for their continued support and to the people of Canton for keeping performing arts alive in the Canton Public Schools.
