Reflections on 9/11

Reflections on the 10th Anniversary of September 11th.

I debated writing this blog post. Everyone has their own memories and feelings about this day. I'm not sure how many different stories people can read about it. I didn't want to take focus away from the 9/11 victims, survivors and their families, which is where I think the focus should be.

But over this weekend I happened upon one of the many specials on TV.  I forget which channel it was on. When I turned it on, there was a 9/11 survivor talking. I tuned in during the middle of the program so I'm not sure if he got out of the towers or if he worked there but wasn't in the office at the time or his exact story other than he was a survivor of the NYC attacks.

One thing he said, however, struck me. He was talking about his current work situation and said that people he works with often get upset or irritated by things going on in the office, work struggles, etc. (like we all do.  He said he never lets those things bother him and tries to keep a smile on his face. When his co-workers ask him how he keeps up such a good attitude he tells them:

As long as there is not a plane flying into your building, then it's a good day.

I think that says it all.

We all get caught up in the stress of our daily lives and the various issues that each of us has to deal with. I think it is important to keep it all in perspective and remember what is truly important.

Keeping all the victims, survivors and families from  in our thoughts now and always. We will never forget.
