Applying To College Using The Common Application Form

The beginning of August brings thoughts of purchasing schools supplies, training for Fall sports, and angst about what to wear on the first day back after Labor Day!
For students who are rising Seniors this Fall, August 1st marks the date that the new version of the Common Application goes live! New essay prompts are being used, as well.
Many first-time applicants and their parents may not be familiar with this online process. About 500 colleges are "Common App Exclusive" and they expect students to fill out this one form and write one main essay in order to apply to college. Some colleges will ask for supplemental essays so students should try to prepare for that possibility by learning more about that here.
My advice to soon-to-be-Seniors would be to get yourself a login and password by the first few weeks of August, and then start to familiarize yourself with the application.
