Daily Five: Foley's Grille to Host First Annual 5K for Mass Hospital School

Also, a Canton student wins a Gold Key award in the 63rd Boston Globe Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, and a local resident is named the district's 2013 Community Clinician of the Year.

  • Temperatures will be mild as they hover in the 60s on Monday, which also marks the home opener for the Boston Red Sox. However, clouds will thicken throughout the day and a shower is possible late in the afternoon. 

2. Foley's Backstreet Grille in Stoughton is sponsoring the First Annual 5K Road Race to benefit the Mass Hospital School. The event will be held on Sunday, April 21, at 12 p.m. at 3 Randolph St. in Canton. Information on the event can be found in this recent post from blogger Christine Smith. 

3. Canton resident Aidan Lee, a senior at Boston College High School, recently won a Gold Key in the 63rd Boston Globe Scholastic Art & Writing Awards competition. The competition offers three types of awards: Gold Key, Silver Key and Honorable Mention. Lee won a Gold Key in Drawing and an Honorable Mention in Drawing.

4. Betsy Cohen, a Canton resident, has opened a new facility for Whole Health for Men and Women, a professional nutritional health counseling service designed to radically improve health and happiness. The facility is located at 464 Granite Ave., Suite 20, in Milton.

5. Canton resident Mangadhara R. Madineedi, M.D., a physician with the VA Boston Healthcare System, was recently honored by his peers of the Norfolk District Medical Society as the district’s 2013 Community Clinician of the Year.
