Five Things You Need to Know Today, Oct. 11

67 degrees, 1975, 3 events.

1. Appreciate the return of fall. Fog in the morning, mostly sunny with temps in the mid-60s and you won't notice the light breeze from Avon.

2. Think about the confluence of three important cultural events that happened 36 years ago today. Bill Clinton married Hillary Rodham. Jane Curtain, Chevy Chase, John Belushi, Dan Aykroyd and Gilda Radner appeared on television sets in the debut of "Saturday Night Live." After releasing two critically acclaimed albums, Bruce Springsteen had his first pop hit with "Born to Run."

3. Stay healthy. The Canton Board of Health will conduct a flu clinic at 1pm at Lamplight Village on Stagecoach Road.

4. Join in an intellectual pursuit. The Film and Discussion Club will screen "The Colors of the Mountain" and then discuss it at the library beginning at 7pm.

5. Get involved. Canton Selectmen meet at 7pm in Memorial Hall to hear an update on the boil water order, to vote on an ambulance write-off policy and make appointment to various posts.
