Get Out: A Canton Patch Weekend Guide for December 2-4

Get out and have some fun this weekend, Canton! Lots to do to get you into the holiday spirit.

Get a jumpstart on celebrating and enjoying your time away from work and school. Here are a few local events to help you and your family have some fun and stay active around Canton. TGIF!

1. Check some holiday shopping off your list. CAPT Holiday Shoppe 2011 is open from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 3. Head to the JFK School in Canton to purchase your gifts and support a plethora of local businesses, selling everything from jewelry to pies to kids clothes and cosmetics.

2. Did somebody say Santa? Bring the little ones to the annual Children's Irish Christmas at the Irish Cultural Centre in Canton on Saturday. The event includes breakfast and runs from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and there will be a special appearance by Mr. and Mrs. Claus.

3. Bring the whole family out to enjoy the Blue Hills and donate to charity on Sunday, December 4. Head to the Blue Hills Holiday Toy Drive & Mountain Bike Ride or Hike at 10:00 a.m. Please bring a new, unwrapped toy to donate.

4. Get festive and support Catholic Charities. Enjoy the Labouré Center’s 21st Annual Christmas House Tour. The tours run on Saturday from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and ends at UMass Boston with a cocktail reception.

5. Do not forget the annual Canton Garden Club Annual Greens and Bows Sale at the Canton Public Library.  The Saturday sale starts at 10:00 a.m. and runs until 3:00 p.m. Pick up your holiday floral arrangements, gifts and baked goods.

6. Stop by the Norfolk County Humane Society Christmas Bazaar on Saturday. From 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. you can do a little holiday shopping for a cause in Canton.

7. For the 21-plus crowd, get ready for a little Madonna Saturday night. The Junction is hosting an

8. On Sunday, enjoy the South Shore Conservatory's "Song of the Season" show at 4:00 p.m.

9. Some family-fun is happening in Sharon on Sunday. The Everwood Day Camp Free Family Fun Day and Open House starts at 11:00 a.m.

10. Also on Saturday night, JP Jones is playing the Open Book Coffeehouse at the Canton Public Library at 7:30 p.m. Enjoy a night of rock, folk and soul music.
