Jury Deliberates on Judge Rotenberg Center's Use of Shock Therapy Treatments

Jury to decide whether or not shock treatments to Andre McCollins in 2002 at the JRC were necessary.

A Dedham jury went into deliberations yesterday afternoon to decide if the Judge Rotenberg Center's use of shock therapy was torture or treatment, according to Myfoxboston.com.

Andre McCollins, was 18-years-old in 2002, when he was restrained and shocked 31 times at the JRC. McCollins' mother, Cheryl McCollins, is suing the Judge Rotenberg Center in and three of its doctors over the "torture of her disabled son," according to CBSlocal.com.

The incident was captured by video cameras at the JRC and after an eight year legal battle was finally allowed to be viewed in court earlier this month.
